Chairman Meow

An orange cat. Ichiban rescued him as a kitten off the streets of Libeu and named him Chairman Meow.

He was secretly the Supreme Being's emissary, assigned to guard Ichiban until his thirteenth year. He was kicked to death in a rain-soaked gutter by men in falcon jackets — the Eight Suits, who feared what the boy would become.

The twelve-year-old's scream that night was the last sound Ichiban ever made with his voice.

Why he matters

Everything in GrungeZhou is the aftershock of that gutter. The covenant. The Eight Suits hunt. The Red Gaze. Posthumously, in cosmic form: "You were never meant to escape the Matrix. You were meant to reshape it."
